Businesses today are facing problems they never could have imagined or prepared for. As a business owner you’re likely looking for help and direction on what to do next. The number one suggestion we have is to stay positive and remember this will pass and we will all make it through this trying time together. Along with that here are some steps you can take with your business to help you end up on top when our world returns to normal.

1. Communicate with Your Customers

Communicate often, communicate clearly and stay relevant.  Keeping up with your customers is easier than ever with technology so make sure you are reaching out on all social media platforms and email, if you can. Remember this is a hard time for everyone so keep your messages positive and empathetic and help out where you can.  More people are online now than ever before and everyone is looking for a way to connect with their friends, their families and even their favorite brands so do what you can to become part of that community and stay away from pushy sales talk.

2. Update Your Online information

Make sure your contact information and hours of operation are updated on Google My Business, social media pages AND your company website. If you have a business that can provide a contactless delivery, curbside pickup or even a new service you never offered pre covid-19, update your online information to let users searching for you know how they can reach you, when they can reach you and how your business is operating.

3. Work on Tasks You’ve Been Putting Off

Have you been avoiding updating your website, working on your SEO efforts or even creating a company newsletter because you haven’t had the time? A lot of businesses are slowing down so use that extra time you have to check things off your digital to do list that you might not have time to complete once business picks back up again. Reach out for customer reviews, write a new blog or revamp your website.

4. Start advertising with PPC

Pay-Per-Click costs with Google Ads are cheaper than ever! Combine that with the fact that more people are online searching the web than ever before we think with the right targeting in place your company could dominate with Google Ads. Also, a lot of companies have completely paused their advertising efforts (we don’t suggest this) so the competition today is much lower than it has been in the past.

5. Provide a Special Offer

Show support to your local and online community by offering a promotional rate or special offer to your customers.

6. Don’t Freak Out- Prepare for Your Comeback

It may be hard to imagine now but the threat of coronavirus will soon be gone. Our economy will bounce back and life as we knew it will return. Use this time to reflect on your past and prepare for the future of your business. Instead of pausing all marketing or SEO efforts instead focus on the long term and come up with a strategy for what you can do now that will pay off big time in a couple months. “Historically, businesses that have chosen a more progressive strategy of refocusing spending during a recession have outperformed businesses that made sweeping cuts, according to studies that analyzed recent recessions outlined in a blog post Thursday by CXL.com.”
